We started Cytoink to fix the problems we lived with as bioprinting researchers — inconsistent batches, opaque specs, and slow custom orders. Here's who we are, the chemistry behind our materials, and the specifications we hold every batch to.
Our founders spent years as bioprinting researchers at top institutions, repeatedly hitting the same wall: suppliers would ship GelMA with unknown degree of functionalization, endotoxin levels that changed batch-to-batch, and no way to verify rheology before you burned through $1,400 of material.
Cytoink was built to be the supplier we wished we had. Transparent specs. Honest pricing tiers for labs that don't need medical-grade material for rheology training. Custom formulations shipped in days, not months.
We're a small team of chemists and engineers who still run the NMR instruments ourselves. Every batch passes our desks before it ships.
Gelatin methacryloyl is gelatin modified with methacryloyl groups on its lysine and hydroxylysine residues. When exposed to UV or visible light in the presence of a photoinitiator, those methacrylate groups crosslink into a stable hydrogel network that supports cell adhesion, migration, and proliferation.
Every batch must meet these acceptance criteria before release. Specs are measured on every lot and reported in the Certificate of Analysis.
| Critical Quality Attribute | Method | Specification |
|---|---|---|
| Degree of functionalization | ¹H NMR | 70–90% |
| Endotoxin | LAL kinetic | < 10 EU / mg |
| Gel point (10% w/v) | Photorheology | ≤ 15 s |
| Storage modulus G′ | Photorheology | 8–20 kPa |
| Swelling ratio (24 h) | Gravimetric | 8–15 |

GuideHow to specify a custom bioink formulation, including concentration, source, photoinitiator, and additives.
Standard custom bioink formulations ship in 5–10 business days from order confirmation. That includes synthesis, dialysis, lyophilization or sterile filtration, full QC, and packaging. Rush turnaround is available on request — contact us before placing the order.
The two main variables are gelatin source and bloom strength. Porcine 300 Bloom gives the stiffest, most mechanically robust scaffolds — best for cartilage, bone, or load-bearing tissue. Porcine 175 and Bovine 225 are the workhorse middle-ground choices for most soft tissue work. Fish GelMA (warm or cold water) is the choice for non-mammalian models or labs with religious or regulatory constraints, with cold-water fish prints well at lower temperatures.
If you're not sure, our Custom Bioink option lets you specify the exact source, concentration, and additives — or contact us and we'll recommend a starting formulation for your application.
Yes — we ship cold-chain worldwide via FedEx and DHL priority. International orders include all required export documentation, MSDS, and a digital CoA. Delivery is typically 3–5 business days to EU and UK, 4–7 days to Asia-Pacific.
Not at this time. All current products are for research use only. A GMP-manufacturing pipeline is on our roadmap for 2027. If you're planning a clinical translation, contact us directly — we can discuss scale-up planning and introduce you to our GMP partner network.
That's what our Custom Bioink option is for. Give us your source (porcine, bovine, fish, silk), target concentration (5–20% w/v), preferred photoinitiator, and any additives (RGD, HA, alginate blends). We'll confirm the spec, synthesize, and ship in 5–10 business days with full CoA.
Lyophilized GelMA is stable for 24 months at −20°C protected from light. Reconstituted solutions should be used within 4 weeks when stored at 4°C. Ready-to-use bioinks have a 2-month shelf life at 4°C. Full shelf-life validation data is on the Storage & Shelf Life protocol sheet.

All Cytoink products are sold strictly for research and laboratory use only. They are not intended, manufactured, or approved for diagnostic, therapeutic, clinical, veterinary, or human use of any kind. Customers are responsible for ensuring that their intended application complies with all applicable laws, regulations, and institutional policies.
Prices listed on our website are reference list prices in U.S. dollars (USD) and are subject to change without notice. Formal quotes are valid for 30 days from issue. Final pricing on any order is set by the quote we issue in response to your inquiry, which may include volume discounts, custom formulation surcharges, or shipping costs that differ from the website's reference prices.
Submission of an order, whether by purchase order, signed quote, or written confirmation by email, constitutes an offer to purchase. Cytoink reserves the right to accept or decline any order at our discretion. An order is considered accepted once we send a written order acknowledgement.

Standard payment terms are Net-30 from invoice date for established institutional customers and verified academic accounts. We accept ACH, wire transfer, and major credit cards. International customers may be required to pay in advance.
Late payments may incur interest of 1.5% per month or the maximum rate permitted by law, whichever is lower.
Orders ship from our facility in Georgia, USA. Lyophilized materials ship at ambient temperature; reconstituted bioinks and ready-to-use formulations ship cold-chain on dry ice or gel packs as required by product specification. Shipping costs and any required permits are the responsibility of the customer unless otherwise specified in the quote.
Delivery times are estimates. We are not liable for shipping delays caused by carriers, customs, weather, or other circumstances outside our control. Risk of loss passes to the customer upon delivery to the carrier (FOB Origin).
International customers are responsible for any import duties, taxes, customs fees, and compliance with local import regulations. Some products may be subject to U.S. export controls; Cytoink reserves the right to decline orders to restricted destinations or end users.
Customers should inspect shipments upon receipt. Any visible damage, missing items, or temperature excursion (where applicable) must be reported to us in writing within 5 business days of receipt. Claims received after this period may not be honored.
We stand behind our materials. Every batch ships with a Certificate of Analysis. If a product fails to meet the specifications listed on its CoA — or if you receive a damaged or compromised shipment that you reported within the inspection window — we will, at our discretion, replace the material at no charge or issue a refund of the affected portion of the order.
This guarantee does not cover material that has been mishandled, stored outside the recommended conditions documented in our product information sheet, or used past its labeled expiration date.
Because of the cell-supportive and biological nature of our materials, we do not accept returns of opened, partially used, temperature-compromised, or custom-formulated products. Unopened catalog products may be returned in original packaging within 14 days of receipt for a refund less a 25% restocking fee, subject to inspection and approval. Customer is responsible for return shipping costs.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Cytoink's total liability arising from or in connection with any product or order is limited to the purchase price paid for the affected product. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages, including but not limited to lost research time, lost data, lost grants, or lost commercial opportunity.
Materials are provided "as is" without warranty of fitness for any particular purpose beyond the specifications stated on the Certificate of Analysis.
Purchase of a Cytoink product grants the customer the right to use that material in their own research. It does not transfer any patents, trademarks, or proprietary methods relating to the manufacture of our materials. Reverse-engineering, repackaging for resale, or use in commercial manufacturing without a separate written agreement is prohibited.
Cytoink is not liable for delays or failures in performance caused by events outside our reasonable control, including natural disasters, supply-chain disruptions, government action, labor disputes, or public health emergencies.
